Charger Showdown: Apple vs Aukey
When it comes to laptop chargers we all assume that when we buy a high-end laptop, the one in the box is the best, right? Well, there is certainly nothing wrong with them, BUT what Aukey has brought to the table for the new USB-C chargers has made us see that there’s an alternative to the default charger in the box.
Aukey vs Apple
The Aukey charger is a full 29 watts, which doesn’t sound special right? However, it’s one of the few third-party chargers out there that can charge the new Apple Macbook Pro with touch bar. The latest charger has now been updated to USB-C. This means that consumers will be forced to buy an Apple charger if they need a spare or a replacement. It will of course charge anything USB-C not just Apples newest laptops.
The Aukey charger takes up almost half the space of the Apple charger when in a bag, but it doesn’t end there. The Aukey charger is hiding one clever feature. It can instantly become a double standard USB charger for normal devices that aren’t USB-C. This means the same charger can be used to charge your phone, tablet or other USB powered devices. The add-on is flush with the plug when it clips in. So you will never lose the second part of the charger as you go about your travels. Such a nice feature.
Our Conclusion
Overall at less than half the price and half the size of the Apple USB-C charger, we have to say that… Aukey wins. For features, size and value Cyber Sushi Design cannot recommend this standard USB and USB-C charger enough!
